Kitbashing

The Next Level

Now that you've built and painted some mini's, you may wonder whats next. Well for those who really wanna personalize their minis theres kitbashing. Kitbashing is simply the process of making unoffical changes to your mini to personalize them. As the name implies, the main way of doing this is taking parts from other kits to make something unique. But this can also be done with crafting parts yourself, altering existing parts, or 3d printing whole new part.

The special thing about kit bashing is there is straight up no rules. Whatever you wanna do to your mini, you can do it. The only limit is time, materials, and imagination. It's also a fantastic way to utilize left over parts still on your sprues. Swap helmets, use extra arms as gorey scenery, or strap together a bunch of chainsword blades to give your marine a sword longer than him. You can literally do anything.

Special Guest

While I personally am not super experienced with kitbashing, my good friend Nick Collins is! Down below are a few of his specially crafted bases that help set a scene and give his minis so much flair. The ground was made with pits of corkboard to help with elevation. He then took extra scenere bits like mini grass and scene packs to add extra flair. And for the Azrial mini(guy with the sword), he took an extra Thousand Sons marine he had and cut him up to include his body as a finishing touch. These are just a few examples of the countless ways to kitbash and personlize your minis.
