Hi there, my name is Jackson and this is my intro to hobby modeling. Hobby modeling is where you build and paint miniatures. Some are for decoration, while others are meant for games. But regardless, it is a massive hobby. From gundam to warhammer to cars, there is something for eveyone to get into!
What is the appeal to hobby modeling? Well for me, it’s a fun way to make something and express yourself. I got into this hobby back when I was a kid and learned about Warhammer 40k for the first time. I was super interested in the lore and universe and became addicted to the franchise. Then I learned that Warhammer is actually a tabletop war game where you make and paint your own army of minis and play against others with their armies, where the lore serves as a background for why the battle is happening. For my birthday that year my parents took me to a citadel store and bought me a starter kit of marines. I went home and spent hours building the whole box with my friend. Then I eventually finally learned to paint them and tried tons of different color schemes. Since then, I have been in and out of the hobby (especially the painting part). But I always love to keep up with releases and make and paint more minis here and there. Recently I have been super into Bandai minis. Unlike Warhammer, which are static figures that come in single colored plastic. Bandai minis are more like action figures that you build from the ground up. They even come with multiple different colored sprues so your mini stands out without any painting necessary. These have been really fun to make recently, especially since I just have not had the time to paint all of my other minis. All of this goes to show that there are tons of different ways to get into and experience the hobby. If you have the literal days (and a boat load of money) to build and paint an entire Warhammer Titan and an army to follow it, then head over to the Warhammer website and spend a mortgage payment on plastic and paint. But if you only have a little bit of time here and there or only a bit of cash, then there are still options for those like us! All in all, if you want to learn how to get your minis battle ready for the tabletop, want them to look amazing as decoration on your shelf, or just enjoy putting things together and expressing yourself through painting. I hope this page serves as a good launching point for how to get into this amazing hobby.
The most common Warhammer minis you'll find are Space Marines. These are a few of mine!

There are tons of other minis out there. Like these Bandai Gundam figures and Evangelion lines.
